Kentucky District Adopts New LMS to Support Blended Learning

Kentucky's Pulaski County Schools has selected a new learning management system (LMS) in an effort to better support blended learning and other non-traditional instruction.

The state's Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) program "allows districts to conduct school through virtual or other non-traditional avenues on days when the schools would normally be closed due to inclement weather," according to a news release. "Pulaski County Schools chose Converge LMS to provide a comprehensive online learning environment for NTI where teachers can facilitate instruction, create collaborative online discussions, administer assessments and increase communication with parents and the community, all from one standardized web-based platform."

The district also chose Converge in part for its ability to support Pulaski's bring-your-own-device initiative, as it's accessible from any device.

"We wanted an effective way for our teachers and students to connect and collaborate online," said Teresa Nicholas, director of curriculum and instruction for the district, in a prepared statement. "Converge offered a flexible platform that supports multiple assignment submission types, immediate feedback and an intuitive interface that is proven extensible and customizable. With simple content creation, import and sharing features, we now have a solution that supports all learners."
